12 Man Tents
The 12 man tents are an important gesture of charity born in 1990 to support the first AVSI volunteers to raise funds and publicize their work in the world for the most vulnerable populations. The "first tent" was a simple book table prepared before a supermarket in Italy in the late '50s, when young students, led by Father Giussani went to "Bassa" in the poor outskirts of Milan, to get attention and free company to needy families, without claiming to find answers or perform charity work, but learning through an exemplary gesture that the supreme law of existence is the generosity, charity, against all selfish possession. Since then, beginning in the Christmas period, the AVSI 12 man tents became a public awareness campaign and fundraising, involving a network of over 12,000 volunteers in Italy and abroad. Every year AVSI has a specific theme, with a title that reflects upon the conditions of human beings in the world, and that dictates the choice of projects, in particular, need support. To contribute to the Campaign 12 man tents and help the five works here described where to allocate the funds received, donations may be made to the account:. .
